질료와 이미지 사이의 자연

정세훈은 구체적인 자연풍경으로부터 출발해 이를 마치 픽셀이미지처럼 낱낱의 작은 면들로 단순화시켰다.
사실적으로 재현된 풍경이 순간 곤충의 겹눈에 의해 보여지듯이 그렇게 잘게 쪼개지고 분산되어 다가온다.
사실적인 구상회화를 통해 자연풍경을 재현했던 화가는 그 재현회화를 색 점, 사각형의 붓질로만 채워 단순화시킨 것이다. 화면은 균일하고 평평해지면서 오로지 붓질과 색채로만 환원되고 있다. 그것은 무엇인가를 가시화시키는 요소들이자 동시에 와해시키고 슬쩍 허물어뜨리다가 다시 환영을 불러일으키기를 반복한다. 그림을 이루는 물리적 요소들의 배열이자 그것들이 순간 특정대상을 연상시키는 이미지로 모여든다. 그것은 색 점과 붓질에서 이미지와 환영 사이로 넘나드는 편이다. 어쩌면 그 사이에서 서식하는 그림, 그 모두를 동시에 껴안고 있는 특이한 화면이기도 하다. 사실 모든 그림은 단순한 물질의 집적이면서도 그것으로부터 멀리 벗어나 그 무엇인가를 지시하고 일깨운다. 그림은 동전의 양면처럼 그 모두를 모순적으로 힘껏 껴안고 있다. 이미지에 주목하면 그림은 고유한 하나의 실재가 되지만 이미지를 망각하고 물질만 주목하면 그림은 그저 물리적인 흔적에 불과하다. 전자가 서구재현회화였다면 후자는 이른바 모더니즘미술이라고 말할 수 있을 것이다.
작가의 그림은 사실적인 풍경에서 출발해 이를 그림을 이루는 존재론적 조건, 즉 납작한 캔버스와 물감과 붓질을 확인하는 작업으로 나아간다. 그리고 이는 동시에 이루어진다. 구상화이면서도 추상화로 다가오고 추상화로 보이지만 기실 구상화에 다름 아닌 그런 그림이다. 아마도 작가에게 이 같은 조형적 방법론으로의 변화는 다소 진부하다고 여긴 그간의 구상화로부터 탈피하기 위한 하나의 방편이자 `현대미술`로의 전환이란 모색에 연유한다는 느낌이다. 그리고 이는 절충적인 선에서 봉합된다. 사각형의 면, 붓질에 의해 만들어진 색 면은 그림이란 결국 붓질과 물감의 물리적 성질로 이루어지는 것이라는 자기 진술이다. 그러나 그 자기 비판적 진술은 이내 자연의 풍경을 구성하는 요소로 다시 쓰여진다. 재현적 전통을 유지하면서 모더니즘의 방법론을 그 위에 올려놓고 있는 것이 정세훈의 회화라는 얘기다. 나로서는 이런 식의 회화가 동양적 자연관과 서구모더니즘의 결합이란 과제에 의해 쓰여 졌던 한국근현대미술사에서 흔히 검출되고 있다고 본다.
밝고 화려한 색채, 점의 형태(픽셀)로서 작은 면의 붓 자국을 채택하는 그는 화면 위에 그 각각의 것이 대상의 모습을 나타내는 요소로서 이바지했던 다양한 색조와 계조를 쌓아 올린다. 그러나 색 점과 붓질에 의해 가려졌던 대상은 어렴풋하게 암시적으로 드러난다. 분명 산과 논이 있고 과일나무와 연꽃, 파란 하늘이 보인다. 그러나 다시 색 점과 붓질, 사선으로 그어진 사각형의 조각들에 집중하다보면 이내 그 풍경은 홀연히 사라진다. 일정한 면적을 지닌 납작한 붓이 단속적으로 찍어놓은 사각형의 단위는 전면적으로 화면 전체를 균질하게 덮고 있으며 다시 사선으로 긋거나 스크래치를 한 자취는 화면 위로 비처럼, 눈처럼 내리고 있다. 혹은 아지랑이나 수증기가 공기 가득 퍼지고 흐르는 듯한 느낌도 준다.
그러니까 이 작은 면들의 규칙적인 배열과 사선의 연출은 과학적이고 분석적인 조형논리나 점묘법에 의한 그림이라기보다는 자연의 순환하는 이치와 자연에서 받는 감흥을 구현하기 위한 방법적 측면이 강하다는 인상이다. 어떻게 보면 정세훈의 그림은 운무가 가득하거나 비와 눈이 내리는 장면을 그린 산수화에 가깝다. 알다시피 산수화는 자연의 구체적인 재현이나 묘사가 아니라 자연계의 이치와 원리를 궁구하는 그림이자 그 자연 대상을 통한 인간의 정서와 감흥을 실현하는 그림일 것이다. 화가들이 사물의 구체적인 현상을 통해 우주적 영기의 순환하는 호흡을 감지하고 이를 표현하는 것이 바로 동양의 그림이었다. 대상의 형상을 묘사하되 그것의 형태에 매이는 것이 아니라 본질을 꿰뚫어 표현함으로써 사실성과 추상성이 하나로 합일되는 경지라고나 할까. 정세훈의 그림 역시 그런 느낌, 의미를 구현하고자 한다. 특히 생명력 넘치는 자연의 감동을 화사하고 밝은 색 점, 색 면으로 수놓고 있다. 속도감과 생명력을 한껏 발산하며 자연의 생명력과 약동을 표현한다고 볼 수 있을 것이다. 이른바 기운생동에 가깝다고나 할까. 재료와 기법은 분명 서양적이지만 전통회화의 요소들을 끌어들여 자연과 깊이 교감을 이루는 우리 고유의 정서를 표출하는 쪽에 가까운 그런 그림이다.

only brush strokes and colors. They are elements that visualize something and at the same time they repeat the process of collapsing, furtively demolishing and then recalling illusions again. they gather to images that associates a certain object
instantly while at the same time they are a sequence of physical elements that compose a painting. They tend to hover between image and illusion in colored dots and brush strokes.
Perhaps it is a unique canvas that embraces the picture inhabiting within, and everything at the same time. actually, all paintings are accumulations of simple materials, yet they free themselves from them and indicate and enlighten something. a painting
Embraces everything ironically with all its might, like two sides of a coin. if you focus on the image, a painting becomes a distinctive existence but if you forget the image and focus only on the material, a painting is only a physical trace. if the former was the Western reproductive painting, the latter can be considered the modernism art.
The artist&rsquos painting starts from realistic landscape and goes on to the ontological condition that forms a painting: a flat canvas and the work of confirming paints and brush strokes. This is done simultaneously. it is a representational painting but approaches as an abstract painting and it appears to be an abstract painting but is actually no different from a representational painting. Perhaps such change to formative methodology for the artist seems to be a means to escape from the somewhat banal way of his usual representational paintings and a reason for pursuit of conversion to &lsquomodern art&rsquo. and this is sutured at a compromised line. sides of a quadrangle and colored sides created by brush strokes are a self-statement that a painting is in the end formed

while putting modernism methodology on it. i see that such style of painting is frequently detected in modern and contemporary Korean art history written by a project called a combination of oriental view of nature and Western modernism.
Selecting bright, splendid colors, and brush marks of small sides as a form (pixel) of dots, he piles up on canvas the various color tones and gradations of which each of the strips acted as an element that showed the appearance of the object. But the object, hidden by colored dots and brush strokes, are revealed suggestively and faintly. There are clearly mountains and rice fields, and you can see fruit trees, lotus and blue sky. But as you focus on pieces of quadrangles stroked in diagonal lines, colored dots and brush strokes again, that landscape disappears all of a sudden. The units of quadrangles sporadically imprinted by a flat brush with a fixed area are evenly covering the whole canvas, and traces of diagonal strokes or scratches are falling on canvas like rain and snow. it also gives the feeling of haze or steam spreading out and flowing all over the atmosphere.
Hence, the regular arrangement of these small sides and the production of diagonal lines are not a painting by scientific and analytic formative logic or pointillism, but ra ther have a strong methodological side that actualizes the logic of the rotation of nature and the inspiration you get from nature. in some ways, Jung sehoon&rsquos paintings are close to landscape paintings of rain and snow, or filled with cloud and fog. as you know, a landscape painting is not a specific reproduction or description of nature, but a painting that thoroughly
Investigates the reason and logic or nature, while actualizing human emotions and inspirations through the object of nature. oriental paintings were what perceived the circulation breaths of cosmic aura through specific phenomena of an object and expressed them. By describing the object&rsquos shape and expressing the essence while not bound to its form, it is the point where actuality and abstractness is combined into one.
Jung&rsquos painting also aims to actualize such feeling and meaning. it is especially embroidering the impression of vital nature with splendid and bright colors of dots and sides. it appears to express the vitality and lively motion of nature, emitting speed and vitality at the most. in other words, it is close to a graceful work of
art full of life of nature. The materials and method are clearly Western, but it is close to expressing our own emotions that are in deep communion with nature, drawing in the elements of traditional paintings.
材料和图像间的自然感

郑世勋从具体的自然风景出发，把图像转换成为如PIXEL中的细小切面。在他手中塑造出的风景如同昆虫眼中的图像，既细小也很分散。以现实中的构思描绘自然风景是靠画家的色点和四角毛笔的创作。
他的画表面均匀平坦，只是凭借毛笔的手法和色泽展现出了这一切。画经过了扩大、瓦解、复燃等反复的手笔过程，这不仅是构成图画的物理要素的排列，也是集中展示特定事物的手法。它是靠色点和笔画穿越了形象和幻影的界线，也许可以说是存在于两者之间的特殊的画面。
其实所有的图画不仅在集中表现某些事物，也在远离事物暗示着某种道理。
图画如铜币上的两面包揽了矛盾中的一切。如果专注于形象，图画则是一种固有的事物，但是如果放弃形象只是专注于事物，图画则只不过是一种物理性痕迹。
如果前者是西方再现手法的绘画，那么后者可称为现代的艺术。
作者的图画从现实中的风景出发，赋予了组成图画的现实条件及确认色泽和笔画的工艺。图画既像是构思，但更像是抽象，有时却像是抽象，但是其实是构思。
也许这种造型手法是从构思绘画中的解脱，也是&ldquo现代艺术&rdquo的转折点，并且它又适当的结合在了一起。根据他的陈述，图画是一种笔画和色泽的物理性组合，但是这种自我批评性的陈述反而体现在了他的自然风景画之中。
不仅坚持着再现手法的传统，也在奉行现代的方法论，这就是画家郑世勋。
我认为这类的画家在东洋的自然观和西方现代主义的结合而闻名的韩国近代美术史中是显而易见的。
他用亮丽华丽的色泽和点的形态，采取细小的毛笔，把各种色泽堆积在一起，但是在色泽和笔画中，却可以隐隐约约的发现出其下所掩盖着的对象。图画中分明有山、田野、果树和莲花以及碧蓝的天空，但是如果专注于色泽和笔画中的四角切块，则原有的风景会悄然消失。
由毛笔连续描绘出的一定面积的平坦四角型的单位覆盖了整个图画，其上有斜线画出的痕迹，如同画面中下的雨和雪，或许又是雾或水蒸气。
这种细小切面的有规律的排序和斜线，与其说是科学的分析造型伦理或者描点法，还不如说是画家对体现自然的循环天理和自然中的感受的意志。郑世勋的图画像描绘雨雪风景的山水画。
大家都知道，山水画不是简单的对自然的具体再现或者是描写，而是在体现自然中的天理，也是在展现人类对自然的情绪和感受的手法。
画家从事物的具体形象中感受出了宇宙中循环的天机，把它展现在了图画之中，这就是典型的东洋画。
虽然在描绘对象的形象，但是又不只局限于其形态之中，而是剖析其本质，这就是现实和抽象的完美结合。郑世勋的画也在遵循这一切。
特别是，他用华丽的色彩描绘了焕发生机的自然，速度感和生命力的散发就是对自然的生命力和跃动的表现。根据材料和手法，这分明是西洋化，但是在画中却赋予了传统画的要素，因此这更像是在说明画家是在表达着注重与自然间的交感纽带的我们固有的民族情绪。
